11:14 am - the break-up
|

You were beautiful, but a high-maintainence bitch. I know that if I looked after you the way I should have then we would have gone all the way. But you and I both knew we were doomed from the start. You with your lubricant issues, me with my obsession with my ex. You always turned heads and I loved being seen with you. You cruised better than anyone I'd been with before. But the time came when we had to look seriously into the future and how we worked with each other. And that outlook wasn't so good. I need to get out and see the world, you just sat and looked pretty. I'll miss you, the aristocrat. I've gone back to my ex, or at least the next best thing.

Closer to my age group. No, she's not as pretty as you. No she won't turn as many heads. But I know that we'll get along better and we'll go those distances that you and I never could. She's a texan now sadly, but that will soon change. I know she didn't vote for Bush.
I hope you're happy with your new owner. He's even got some others for you to talk to. And he'll put his bike rack on you and you'll not even notice the difference. He'll love and care for you better than I ever could. So, this is good for both of us. We had our good times, we had our bad. Mostly good. Stay beautiful forever.
Love, Parker

Alienation.
How can an "alternative" artist charge $95 for concert tickets? Are you seriously trying to fill your concert halls with yuppies with square glasses trying to be cool again?
Bjork, I used to like you, I really did. But I don't feel like lining your pockets and cohorting with a bunch of Heineken drinking assholes.
Nothing like pricing yourself so far away from your fans that you don't have to deal with them. That works.

The Aristocrat n. [uh-ris-tuh-krat, ar-uh-stuh-]: 1. a person who has the tastes, manners, etc., characteristic of members of an aristocracy. 2. Parker's car, according to his office mates.
We got hit pretty hard with snow yesterday. I had to drive to work to return a bunch of equipment I "borrowed" to shoot this band's show. I leave work around six, have to dig my car out of a deep over-the-knee drift and get home. In Chicago, you can't park on certain streets when the snow is more than 2 inches deep. So parking is scarce and often fought over in thunderdome-styled arenas posted every 4 long blocks. The side streets were not plowed. The Aristocrat did a fantastic job plowing through the snow. The 3600 lbs of brut german strength never ceases to amaze me with its hidden talents. I see an empty spot along one street, however another deep snow drift stands inbetween me and 25 cent wings at the bar. I decide that I won't be driving for a few days, so I make the decision to ram the car into that spot in any way how. I back up a little bit, and charge with all I can into that spot. I crash through the drift and begin to slide, using some fast heel-toe to perfectly place the car in this parallel parking spot. A neighbor with a snow shovel stood and stared in amazement. As I walked by his place, he told me he wished he thought of the crash parking job instead of clearing a spot off for himself. And they say rear-wheel drive sucks in the snow. Well, it does. Needless to say the car has been engulfed by a snow drift at present and will be waiting around for a while. We'll dig the car out when I get my dogsled team together. MUSH! MUSH! Snow cones for all!!!!
Other than that, it's a beautiful day here. The sun is out and it's still kinda snowing. Soon I will go skiing.

Though I love Chicago, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the notion that my refridgerator is actually keeping food from freezing. So, in a sense, it's an insulated heater. It's 12 degrees outside now. My fridge is around 38-42. I'm spending money to keep my food warm, but not too warm.
what a country!
